Directors Note: :

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was not only the father of Indian Constitution; he was a great freedom fighter, political leader, philosopher, thinker, economist, editor, social reformer, revivalist of Buddhism and was first Indian to break down the barriers in the way of advancement of women in India. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar is the chief source of inspiration to the people of India especially the vast toiling and suffering masses, because his ideas, Principles and actions continue to have relevance as the contradictions in social and economical life persist even today.

For Dr. B. R. Ambedkar whose mission for his whole life had been to bring equality in the society and to end all discrimination based on grounds of caste, race, religion or sex, could not remain silent on the issue of equal status for women. He had very progressive thoughts for bringing equality for equality among all humans including women. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar stressed on the knowledge exploitation and injustice which are in Social forms of violence and the oppressions. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar endeavored to set essential everlasting human values such as equality, liberty, fraternity and social justice in India society. This fundamental ideas and values of his life, have become the fountain of inspiration self –respect, self-confidence, rationality and Practical humanism. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar wanted to create a new India, a strong united India, free burden of History of hatred and exploitation.

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s mission in life was to challenge the ideological foundations of graded system of caste hierarchy that denied equality, freedom and human dignity to women in Hindu society. He believed that society should be based on reason, and not on atrocious tradition of caste system. Therefore, in order to reconstruct society the Education should be based on modern democratic ideas of liberty, equality and fraternity.

There is a great need to acquire, imbibe and enrich the teachers, students, as well as the concerned citizens of India with his vision of nation. So our Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Study Center works for involving teachers, students in research studies, field-works based on extension service, activities and orient or refresh them to contribute towards making India a healthy Nation. The Centre basically focuses on Dr. B. R. Ambedkar's Life, Legacy, Literature and its Relevance, Philosophy and its Future Vision. The Centre also focuses on Dr. B. R. Ambedkar's thoughts on Indian National Spirit and his approach for marginalized groups. The centre also emphasize on Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and his views on Social Justice and his contribution for the upliftment of depressed classes and also highlight his thoughts on social, economic and political reforms. It also focuses on the relevance of Indian Constitution and Ambedkar thoughts on Human Rights and Constitutional Reforms.

THE STUDY CENTRE WORKS ON THE FOLLOWING OBJECTIVES

1. To Study the vision and mission of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar in construction of Indian society with major focus on the weaker sections and examine their impact on people and society.

2. Undertake comparative studies of Ambedkar’s vision and mission with great visionaries of both India and world such as Jyotibha Phuley, Basveshwara, Gandhi, Booker.T.Washington, Jawaharlal Nehru, Karl Marx, Ram Manohar Lohia, Subhashchandra Bose, Jaya Prakash Narayan etc, in reconstruction of Indian society.

3. Critically analyze discrimination and oppressed class social movements of Dalits, tribes, feminisits, backward classes, Minorities-linguistic, religious, racial etc, including those led by Dr.Ambedkar in reconstruction of society in general and Indian society in particular.

4. Undertake M.Phil and Ph.D Programmes of studies and research in the thoughts and related aspects of Dr.B.R. Ambedkar and conduct full time Post Graduate and/or part time diploma or Certificate courses for teachers, students of the university, functionaries of non-Government organizations, corporate executives, Government officers etc focusing on particular aspect of thoughts and works of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar.

5. Set up a special multi user high tech Multimedia Digital Library within the Centre’s premises for teachers, students and scholars to get acquainted with the thoughts and mission of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar.

6. Set up and maintain Museum on life and mission of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar and on related aspects and similar personalities within the multimedia library of the Centre.

7. Organise Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Lecture every year inviting national and international scholars/leaders who have made significant contribution within the objectives of the centre by organizing conferences, seminars, lectures, workshops and similar activities on selected topics at International, national and regional levels.

8. Bring out publications and Undertake action projects, extension activities and disseminate the concepts related to the philosophy of social justice, development, transformation, equity, empowerment of marginalized sections of the society, and other topics of development as advocated by Dr.B.R.Ambedkar.

9. Collaborate with other universities and research Centres in both India and abroad with regard to educational programmes, research, training and extension activities etc.
